‘Bates Motel’ preview: What was Norman Bates like as a teenager?
There are a lot of new shows coming out this Spring, but the one we are most looking forward to here at Cartermatt.com is ‘Bates Motel’, because who doesn’t want to see what one of the world’s most infamous cinematic killers was like as a teenager?
Actor Freddie Highmore is taking on the role of Norman Bates, who finds himself alone in the world with his mother after an accident befalls his father and ends his life. After the death of his father, his mother (played by Vera Farmiga) buys an old run down motel, thinking that a change of space (and job) might be just the thing to help her and Norman move forward past the tragedy.
In the newly released preview for the TV series, we get a glimpse into Norman and his mother’s strange and very close relationship as she shows him around the motel. She tells him that this is their chance to start over, but Norman is afraid that a change of place doesn’t mean that the problems from their past don’t follow them. Later Norman’s brother comes to visit and while he’s taking dinner out of the oven, his brother’s cell phone rings displaying a rather unflattering name as the caller. When his brother answers the call, Norman is horrified to find out that it is his mother on the other end of the line and he tries to start a physical fight over the name his brother called her. Norman’s brother throws him on the floor and tells him that their mother is ruining his life, but because he has no where else to go, he’s staying at the motel with them whether he likes it or not.
“Bates Motel” is premiering on Monday, March 18th at 10 p.m. on A&E – Will you be tuning in? Take a look at the sneak peek below and let us know if you think this series will have enough creep factor to live up to the original Norman Bates from “Psycho”.
