‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Filming officially kicks off for Michael C. Hall, cast

Dexter and Debra MorganWe have been teasing the moment for quite a while now, but the beginning of “Dexter” season 8 is officially upon us. Production began earlier this week with some of the locations being set in stone, and on Wednesday the cameras began rolling for the first time.

This news was confirmed by multiple crew members for the Showtime drama on Twitter, and reportedly some of the first scenes were show from inside a studio rather than out on some actual location. While Michael C. Hall has very little communication with the general public, Jennifer Carpenter has been hyping up the start of filming for quite some time, and even went as far as to promise that shooting would, as expected, take place all hours of the day.

We know already that the writers have gotten together the first handful of scripts for the new season, but what is at this point a little unfair concerning whether or not this is indeed the final season of the show. Scripts are basically having to be written in such a way that this could work either as the final or the penultimate season, and at some point during production, they will have to work on the fly based on whatever decision is handed down by producers.

Based on the vast majority of the information that is in fact out there at the moment, the best assumption to make is that this will probably be Dexter Morgan’s final twelve episodes. If the decision was made otherwise, it would be rather complicated and also involve some extended negotiations with all of the show’s actors, as many of whom see their current deals end at the end of this year.
