‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: An Iron Throne picks up production

Game of ThronesSo long as you are over 21 and love “Game of Thrones,” the following story may come as a delight to some of you: the brewery responsible for the upcoming Iron Throne blonde ale is amping up production.

In a new post on their official Twitter account, Brewery Ommegang had the following to say about getting the first shipments of the show-inspired beer off the ground (ironically while HBO and the show’s producers are hard at work making season 3 the best that it can possibly be):

“Busy week at the brewery.1st batch of Iron Throne being bottled, 2nd batch is in the open fermentor and brewing more Gnomegang as we speak.”

This beverage is just the latest product that has been licensed by the shrewd marketers at the network in order to create extra revenue to go along with their properties. “True Blood” already has a non-alcoholic beverage that is for sell, and both these two shows along with “Boardwalk Empire” and “Girls” have a number of products that are for sale online. Some shows (see “Mad Men”) have even inspired cookbooks in order to showcase what some of the cuisine would be from the world of the show. (Personally, we’re actually not hoping to see a “Food of Westeros” book come out at any point in the future.)

This ale will be in stores in March, the same month in which “Game of Thrones” is set to premiere on HBO.

As always, we’re going to be on top of the latest news taking place for the show both via interviews and behind-the-scenes tidbits. If you want to watch the latest “Game of Thrones” season 3 production video from Iceland, you can do so over at the link here.
