‘Banshee,’ ‘House of Lies,’ ‘Californication.’ ‘Shameless,’ and more renewed
This is turning out to be a rather great day for television … or at least for popular TV shows getting to stay around a while longer. Rather than breaking down some of the renewal news into a series of tiny articles, we’re going to bring all of it to you (or at least what is announced now) all within the span of one article.
Cinemax – “Banshee” is the network’s first original drama series put on entirely by them, and the sister station of HBO is interested in showing that they will be committed to some of their original projects. Even though just three episodes of “Banshee” have aired, we now know for sure that the series is going to last on Cinemax until at least the spring of 2014.
Showtime – This network has made the move to actually renew its entire Sunday-night lineup, including “Shameless,” “House of Lies,” and “Californication.” The latter series is really the only surprise of the bunch here, since it will be entering its seventh season, and that is a very long time for a scripted show on premium cable. At the moment, only “Dexter” and “Weeds” have each been around longer.
CBS – If you love the network’s daytime lineup, then you will be pleased to know that literally all of it is going to be coming back. This news means that there will be more of “The Price is Right,” “The Talk,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” The news is always the most exciting for the soaps, which seem to be perpetually on thin ice these days.
