‘Arrow’: The Huntress actress Jessica De Gouw heading to NBC’s ‘Dracula’
We have some news coming in now that is surely going to be great for fans of Jessica De Gouw … even though the writing could now be on the wall when it comes to the future of her role on “Arrow.”
In what has to be a huge opportunity for the young actress from Australia, De Gouw has be tapped to co-star in the upcoming NBC series “Dracula” in a role alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The show has already been greenlighted past the traditional pilot stage, meaning that it is almost sure to come on TV at some point during the 2013-14 season.
So what does the future hold for Helena / The Huntress now? We know that producers for “Arrow” are hoping to get her back at some point this season, but depending on her “Dracula” commitment it could seem as though getting her for the inevitable “Arrow” season 2 could be difficult. If she is a series regular and that show gets picked up for 22 episodes, we would think that her doing both shows would be close to impossible.
Luckily, there is so much mythology within the DC Comics world that even if De Goue ends up joining a different show, they still will have enough characters to easily inhabit the world of Oliver Queen and his famous alter ego.
NBC is taking a big gamble on giving this “Dracula” series such a strong guarantee, but many of their current new shows, save for “Revolution” and to a lesser extent “Chicago Fire,” have been complete flops. With there being some disappointments especially when it comes to comedies, we see it as likely that the network will turn one of these comedy hours on their schedule (our guess Tuesdays at 9:00) back into drama.
