‘Private Practice’ season 6, episode 12 review: The path to the series finale

Private PracticeAfter spending several weeks giving us a rather wonderful take on all of the major characters, “Private Practice” finally brought everyone together Tuesday night for an episode that really started to tie together loose ends, and set the stage for a joyful, emotional series finale airing next week.

So with that in mind, let’s set the stage for where so many of the popular faces in Seaside are going into this episode, and just how far they have come since where they were at the start of the season.

Addison and Jake – The custody war for Kate Walsh’s character heated up this week, as the judge received a negative recommendation from the adoption agency based on the face that Jake had been arrested. He made a strong plea explaining why he had such a physical altercation on his record, and suddenly things are looking bright for Addison and her new family. Not only that, but they’re getting married!

Charlotte and Cooper – Not only did the couple welcome their triplets completely into the world this week, but they also all have names: Georgia, Caroline, and Rachel. This happened just as Cooper was making another big move: getting the family a new house.

Violet – While there was an opportunity for her to find love again courtesy of a bookstore worker, she decided that for now she’s better off staying away from love.

Sheldon – While Sam did not have much of a role this week, he was instrumental in being the first person in Sheldon’s life to hear that he has been battling prostate cancer for the past two months.

Amelia – She realized that she does want kids, regardless of just how much she tried to tell herself otherwise.

While Shonda Rhimes has been known for ripping out viewers’ hearts from time to time, we have to say that this was a rather delightful hour of television, one that makes us genuinely excited to see what sort of happy ending comes for these characters. Will it be perfect? Probably not, but it will hopefully be anything but tragic.
