‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9: Meet Patrick Dempsey, businessman

For nine years now, America has had an opportunity to get to know one side of Patrick Dempsey: a strong, sensitive guy best known for playing a doctor on “Grey’s Anatomy” that many female fans refer to as “McDreamy.” However, there is clearly another side of the actor that is a smart, savvy businessman, and knows how to fully leverage his time on the Seattle-set series (which actually films in Los Angeles) in order to help a coffee business in the Pacific Northwest.

We have posted before that Dempsey has purchased the Tully’s Coffee chain in the area, which was struggling financially and up for auction. Just in the brief amount of time since coming on board the company, the actor has already toured some of the shops, taken pictures with fans, and met many of the employees. He also spoke to Fox Business a little bit about the purchase recently, and why he is more excited than ever to hit the ground running with them:

“From day one, we have been focused on saving jobs, keeping Tully’s independent and infusing new life and enthusiasm into the company. I’ve been deeply humbled by the outpouring of support from the City of Seattle and am very proud to be a new business owner in this amazing city. We have a lot to accomplish over the next few months and years and I am excited to now call Seattle my second home. We are anxious to get started and will immediately begin the process of putting our vision to revive the company into place.

“I can’t wait to spend more time at the stores getting to know our employees and customers, and hearing what they have to say.”

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about Dempsey’s venture in the coming months; but for now, he is busy continuing his work on set as Derek.
