‘Homeland’ season 3: Why Claire Danes is happy to keep working
Remember when we wrote about that ridiculous rumor that Claire Danes was ready to leave “Homeland” in order to become a full-time mom? Well, just in case you want even more proof that this story was completely bogus, just check out what the actress is saying now in Elle Magazine. After all, it is basically as close to a contradiction as you are going to get to the original rumor, which the tabloids tried to make look like she was sending the world into a panic:
“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now. When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it … I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus that I wanted to act.”
Therefore, take this to the bank that Danes is ready to get back to work on “Homeland” season 3 in April or May, and at that point she will be several months away from the birth of her son Cyrus and will be prepared to dive back in head-first.
For those of you who have missed some of our earlier pieces on the show’s production schedule, the writers should begin bouncing ideas around for season 3 by the end of the month, and they will continue to work throughout the early part of this year with crafting stories and securing locations. The start date will depend largely on where the scenes are being filmed, as production started a little earlier last year so that Danes and Mandy Patinkin could do some work overseas. Production will continue throughout the summer, and the new season will of course premiere in either late September or early October.
