‘America’s Got Talent’: Does Howard Stern want Rosie O’Donnell on board?

America's Got TalentThere is a new rumor floating around about the upcoming season of “America’s Got Talent,” and it is a particularly interesting one for those of you who would want to see Howard Stern and another personality with Sirius XM ties working together on the small screen.

Speaking as a part of a brand-new interview with the New York Observer, Rosie O’Donnell claims that she is currently in talks with NBC and the show’s producers about being the replacement for Sharon Osbourne, and there are some insiders who are claiming that the former daytime and OWN talk-show host is even the shock jock’s pick to land the gig for the 2013 season (though he may not have much say at all in the final decision):

“I am very interested in doing America’s Got Talent with Howard Stern and I am talking to them … Let’s see how that works.”

Considering the hatred many people out there have for Rosie, we may be in the minority in saying this; however, we actually think that she could be a hilarious and inspired choice for the role. She is not only opinionated, but she knows live TV well and, like Howard, can adapt depending on her audience. For example, she is not going to come on the show and go on about some sort of political agenda or showcase some of the venom that she did when on “The View.” Instead, this would give her an opportunity to return to her 1990s roots as a crowd-pleaser who drew a very wide audience.

We have heard a few other names floating around out there including LeAnn Rimes and Shannen Doherty, but as of now Rosie is the best candidate in that she is at least experienced in live TV, and who wouldn’t want to see her and her former rival-turned-friend Stern go head to head on a weekly basis? Plus, we’re sure that Donald Trump would love the fact that she would be on a show with higher ratings than “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Stern’s own return to the show was in question for weeks, but he confirmed that he would be back earlier this fall.
