Even though we still do not have an official, long-form trailer for “Game of Thrones” season 3 just yet, HBO was still kind enough this week to give us a glimpse of something incredibly exciting: the sweeping landscapes and fantastic art direction that play key roles in making the show the success story that it is.
As you can see in the video below, we have an opportunity to hear what several people working in the art department have to say about taking on a project with such a massive scale, especially on a season where there is so much traveling and such a wide array of terrain. By far, this is the most complicated season from the standpoint of the total amount of land covered, and the total amount of work that needs to be put into making every place feel authentic.
From an interview standpoint, the video is slightly a bummer in that most of it is spent listening to people talk about just how “amazing” it is working on this show and how incredibly talented everyone is … which is a given considering the quality of work we see them put out, and we’d like to see this coupled with more production detail. With that being said, we’d rather have a video filled with congratulations than no video at all, especially since producers were kind enough to at least give us a solid glimpse in here at another new character for season 3 in Jojen Reed (who is surely someone that fans of the George R.R. Martin books have been waiting to see for some time).
