‘Shahs of Sunset’: Reza Farahan proud to represent the Persian gay community
Reza Farahan is definitely a fan favorite on the “Shahs of Sunset” and if you’ve ever watched even just a 5 minutes of the hit Bravo series then you know why fans are completely in love with him – he’s smart, successful, hilarious and is making having a mustache completely cool.
Another thing that makes Reza so interesting and endearing to viewers is how he is proudly representing the Persian gay community on the show. He doesn’t hold anything back and tells it like it is with humor and respect, which is really refreshing these days for reality television. Recently Farahan spoke to AP and told them that for him it was really important to have a gay Persian on the “Shahs of Sunset” that is successful, respected by everyone and loved by his family, (something that is missing from a lot of reality TV shows these days). He said:
“One of the things that’s most important to me is that there is a gay Persian on the show who’s respected by his friends, loved by his family, successful in his career, and it’s not this big issue that I’m gay. That was the most important thing.”
Farahan also added that with him being on the “Shahs of Sunset” he is able to help fight against negative stereotypes about Persian-Americans, something that is also important to him. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the “Shahs of Sunset” we highly recommend that you do – in fact there is a new episode airing tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo so be sure to tune in and see why we can’t get enough of Reza and the rest of the cast.
