‘Dexter’ season 7, episode 12 preview: Last-minute details on the finale

DexterThe finale for “Dexter” season 7 is just about here, so with that in mind it seems like the appropriate time to really share as much last-minute dish as we can before “Surprise, Motherf**ker” airs in all of its glory. It’s sure to be an exciting, surprising episode; and even if you see the ending coming, we have a feeling that you will still be thrilled by the road traveled to get you there.

Without dropping any major spoilers, the main thing you can expect during the episode is three primary narratives, all tied into each other in some way: Dexter Morgan trying to take down the last survivor responsible for killing his mother in Hector Estrada, him figuring out where things stand with Hannah McKay moving forward (even though she is now sporting an orange jumpsuit), and and his attempts to avoid Captain LaGuerta’s accusations that he is the Bay Harbor Butcher. Along the way, it’s probably safe to say that there will be some progress made in a few other departments, including Batistia’s restaurant opening and Quinn’s relationship with Nadia (if there is anything more to tell).

With the title of the episode being as it is, there has been a great deal of speculation that we could somehow be seeing Sargent Doakes making some sort of return appearance. Don’t expect the guy to rise up from the dead, though; if we do see Erik King in this episode (which he is credited for), it will probably be in some sort of new flashback or dream sequence.

We don’t know if there is any symbolism here, but the events in this episode are also set to unfold over the course of New Year’s Eve and the days surrounding it. Everyone loves to start the new year fresh; and on “Dexter” this time around, this may mean by Michael C. Hall’s character doing everything that he can to make sure that no one else out there can harm either him or his sister.
