‘The Vampire Diaries’: A new spin on Ian Somerhalder – ’50 Shades of Grey’ rumors
At this point, it has almost become like a repetitive stress injury to keep talking about Ian Somerhalder possibly playing Christian Grey in a potential “50 Shades of Grey” movie. There have been rumors floating around on this very subject for so long that we are almost numb to the whole ordeal now, and in a way we are sure that “The Vampire Diaries” star feels the same way. After all, he can’t get through a lengthy interview anymore without being asked about it.
However, this is where we have to give MTV a little bit of credit for their new interview with the actor, especially since the focus of it was really his environmental work and the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. Rather than just badgering the actor yet again about whether or not he was going to be playing the part, he was instead hilariously asked if Christian Grey would be interested in supporting his foundation if he existed in real life, and here is what he had to say in response:
“Of course he’d volunteer for our foundation. Mr Grey is a sucker for opportunity and challenge…as a volunteer? Mr. Grey would be able to harness the corporate world to serve and obey the mission of the foundation, and he’d do it with a sparkle in his eyes and a smile across his mouth.”
For those of you wanting some sort of tangible news on this subject, producers behind the E.L. James adaptation have yet to really finalize a writer or director for the film, and thus they have not cast anyone. While it’s possible that Somerhalder could be handed the role, we at the same time think that producers are likely to go with someone with a more flexible filming schedule year-round.

I think Ian fits the part of Christain Grey perfectly. I’m a middle-aged grandmother that has read these books 3 times. Ian has the look that can melt your heart on one hand and burn into your soul with the other. When all dressed up in a suit and tie he looks the part of a very wealthy man. He can be composed and then turn in a minute. Ian really can do this. He has the eyes, the smile and the good looks to be the Christain Grey that I visualized in my mind when I read these books. Best series by far that I have ever read. I hope there is more to come…. Thank you!!

Ian is perfect! He has already played a conflicted part before, he has done heated scenes on HBO and overall he is beyond sexy!!!!!!! He is 34 years old and in my opinion doesn’t look it at all. I thought he was like 25 at the most. And I am a HUGE fan of his!

I think Ian as Damon Salvatore from TVD resembles so much of Christian Grey. Damon and Christian have to many things in common; mood swings and Ian delivers the role quite well, he can be very sexual and sweet at the time.
I definitely Ian would fit the role as Christian Grey perfectly, while in the other hand Matt Bomber has the CEO look in him thanks the White Collar but the fact that he is gay still not convincing me enough to think that he would fit Christian Grey’s role as a dominant.

Bomer is far from perfect. His sexuality is only part but certainly not the main reason he’s not right. H2e’s looks far too old/mature to pass as a 27 year old.
