‘Supernatural’ season 8, episode 8 preview: Castiel plays ‘bad cop’

Can someone officially label the latest “Supernatural” season 8 sneak peek the best one ever? As if we weren’t already excited enough for  Wednesday night to come quickly, the clip below justifies our elation that much more. After all, it’s hard not to be thrilled at the site of Misha Collins’ Castiel trying to get his detective on.

The truth here is that “Hunteri Heroici” marks the first real case for Cass as a hunter, and with the help of Sam and Dean, it is not going particularly well as he attempts to go “bad cop” on one of the people that they are investigating for possible unnatural behavior … even if it is absolutely hilarious to watch. What’s also surprising here? The reason given by the woman being interrogated here as to why her husband was sleeping around with another woman.

We really have no idea just where this episode is going to just yet, but for now it really just feels like one of those fun “Supernatural” episodes (you can count many of them) that may not make any major story revelations, but you want to watch again and again in repeats. Sam and Dean need a little bit of levity in their lives after some of what they have been through this season already; and considering the showdown that is likely coming up with Benny, why not take a little bit of a break and release your cartoonish inhibitions for a few minutes?

What are you more interested in seeing in this upcoming episode: Cass as a detective, or the overall cartoon feel of the episode as a whole?
