‘The X Factor’ UK notes: Ella Henderson and James Arthur

Even though this past “X Factor” UK elimination may have been the biggest load of (insert your favorite swear word here) in the history of the show, there is a silver lining coming out of the exit of Ella Henderson already: it appears as though Simon Cowell is already gearing up to hand the big-voiced teen some sort of record contract.

Does it make sense for Cowell to do so given that Henderson is the sixth-place contestant on a reality singing competition? Certainly. Even though she did not win, neither did Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert on “American Idol,” or, to use a comparison more in line with the show here, neither did One Direction or Cher Lloyd. (If you live in America, you have no idea what a “Matt Cardle” is or that it won their season.) It is really all about what you do after the show than what you do during it, at least so long as you give impressive performances.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source claims that Cowell is already pushing to get Ella signed to a record contract:

“Simon can’t believe she got the boot but he’s not losing any sleep over it as he can see the pound signs in his eyes … He’s confident Syco will get her but if she goes elsewhere within Sony he’s still quids in.”

Ultimately, we agree with this source: even if you were screwed by the voting public, why not give the show that gave you a shot a stardom the first crack at the rest of your career?

In other news… – We have for you this rather awesome quote from James Arthur, which really has to get you even more excited about the fact that he is going to take things up another notch this weekend after a week in the bottom two:

“I’m obviously not working hard enough, either that or people assume that people like myself and Ella, who have been considered favourites for the final for a few weeks now, they may have thought we were safe … I don’t know but it’s given me the kick up the a– that I needed and I feel reinvigorated and ready to take on whatever the competition brings.”

Translation? James is probably going to be awesome this weekend.
