‘The Mindy Project’ spoilers: ‘The Office’s’ Ellie Kemper reunites with Mindy Kaling

We are quickly learning one thing about Mindy Kaling through some of her guest stars on “The Mindy Project” this season: she clearly had a rather good time while working on “The Office.” First, we learned that B.J. Novak was coming over here as an executive producer; then, we saw Ed Helms make an appearance during her pilot episode. So what is happening now? Let’s just say that we are going to have a reunion of a certain pop duo who had one of the most-popular “Office” webisode series ever.

As the photo to the left shows, Ellie Kemper (otherwise known as Erin on the NBC comedy) is going to be making an appearance during the show’s upcoming holiday episode airing on Tuesday, December 11, but at the moment it is a secret just who she will be playing. Are they related to Josh in some way, or could they be an ex-girlfriend? No matter what it is, the photo above clearly shows that Kemper’s character is rather shocked about it.

This casting comes on the heels of an announced shakeup in the show’s cast due to everything from creative differences to lukewarm ratings. Amanda Setton (Shauna) is getting set to depart the series according to TVLine, while Anna Camp (Gwen) is going to be downgraded from a series regular to recurring status so that she can pursue some other opportunities in pilot season. (She will still appear here in the spring, but this is hardly the worst news we have heard given that her character did not always have the most to do.)
