‘Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars’ review: Did Emmitt Smith make the finals?
It’s hard to believe that the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” finals is only just a week away, but on Tuesday night’s results show, the remaining five dancers were whittled down to three. Considering that everyone left is really great, any elimination is going to be tough to swallow. In this particular case, though, it is going to be even harder considering that almost every elimination is going to be a surprise.
So did we see another stunner here? Thankfully, Shawn Johnson was spared early on in the night as both she and Derek Hough, who were the top scorers Monday, were the first pair declared safe. Then, we saw that the first pair to leave the competition were Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff, which was a foregone conclusion in many ways given that they were the only one of these couples who had been in jeopardy this season.
Following the declaration that Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani were also declared safe, we were then left with a final two of Emmitt Smith (with Cheryl Burke) and Kelly Monaco (with Val Chmerkovskiy). For us, this result seemed obvious: everyone knows that Emmitt’s fan following is enormous, and Kelly seemed to be the prime candidate to leave the competition. Did it happen? No! Shockingly, the most popular star is gone, and now we have a final that is all about the ladies … at least when it comes to the stars. Maybe his football fanbase has decreased, or the other celebrities just are more popular now.
What do you think of this week’s result, and do you think that the right person ended up going home?
