‘Downton Abbey’ season 3: A look at the past … and the future
While having “Downton Abbey” air at different times of the year can be rather frustrating, it also at times makes for some rather interesting ways in which to write articles, as you have two separate perspectives to work from. If you’re in America, you are still waiting to see what happens; meanwhile, if you are in Britain, you’ve already seen it all. The show also airs at other times in a variety of other countries, but we will be honest here in saying that we would literally drive ourselves up the wall trying to name the premiere dates for every country out there.
With this in mind, though, we’re going to start things off with news from America; that way, you can read the first bit of the article and leave if you want to avoid any potential spoilers.
As it turns out, First Lady Michelle Obama is not going to be the only person in the USA who gets an opportunity to watch the third-season premiere a little bit early. As you can find out over at the link here, the show is going to be having a special screening of the premiere at Red House Arts Center in Syracuse, New York on December 16. As for everyone else, you’ll just have to wait until the show premieres on January 6 in order to find out just what happens in the famous house … but you will be rather happy you did.
(Spoiler alert!) Now, we turn to a brief scoop from Illamasqua, who spoke to Magi Vaughan, who is responsible for the makeup and hair design on the show. For those of you who have watched season 3 in its entirely, it should come as no surprise that one of the standout scenes was a certain one involving a jazz club that managed to turn quite a few heads during the finale:
“The jazz scene was my favorite – it allowed me to push the look more towards the flapper era. I wanted all the ladies to look like little china dolls very made up and stylized – we used a lot of lashes and all the lips were very dark.”
There has still be no official teaser trailer yet for the Christmas special for season 3, but stay tuned: we’re going to be watching for it closely, and will have it for you here the moment it is online.
