‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 7 review: Now with more yelling!

Did you ever notice that just about everyone on “New Girl” seems to constantly have some sort of ax to grind? Well, the show managed to take advantage of this perfectly for their new episode airing on Tuesday night, as the show presented to us an episode that was hilarious both as a character study and just for the sake of comedy.

It was “that time of the month” for Jess, and admittedly her story was probably the weakest of the stories in that it really just reduced her to be just a caricature that resembled some of her problems early in season 1. She struggled to find a job, pay the bills, or really get along with anyone around the apartment. Her job interview was the weirdest part of the episode, as it was really just her crying for several minutes.

Instead, the best part of the episode was Nick Miller hilariously curing his anger issues by hanging out with some crazy old dude at the park, who taught him the wonderful joys of water massage while also saying that he was a “giant baby.” Fans of Nick and Jess probably did love how their stories came together when he tried to show her what he had learned through a massage of his own, and strangely it ended up working despite him being the worst masseuse of all time.

In the end, Jess did find herself a new job as a teacher for adults, Nick lost a little bit of his peace, Winston missed his relationship, and we also saw the awkward beginnings of a relationship between Schmidt and his new boss. It’s like “50 Shades of Grey,” minus the drama.
