‘Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars’: Derek Hough will perform with Shawn Johnson

Just a few days ago, it was unclear as to whether or not Derek Hough would be coming back on “Dancing with the Stars” this week, let alone the season as a whole, in order to perform with Shawn Johnson. Now, we can at least say with some certainty that the show’s popular professional dancer is going to be back for the rest of the season, at least so long as his neck injury does not become even worse than it already is.

Speaking in a new interview with “Extra,” Hough confirmed that he has been cleared to dance for another week after undergoing some rigorous tests and meetings with doctors. He is going to have to watch it to ensure that there are no complications, but luckily Mark Ballas filling in for him has enabled him to rest up and get back to where he is healthy enough to at least last in the competition for the next several weeks.

As for Derek’s future beyond this season, he plans on undergoing surgery not long after the show’s “All-Stars” finale to ensure that everything is good to go no matter where his career takes him. There has been talk that this could be his final season of “Dancing with the Stars,” as he has already won several Mirrorball trophies and may want to pursue other opportunities, but at this point nothing has been confirmed concerning his possibly departure from the show.

Are you glad to see Derek dancing again during the show Monday night?
