‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Pretty Little Liars” ‘A’ stops by
Through her work as Mona on “Pretty Little Liars,” Janel Parrish has quickly proven herself capable as an actress of playing people who are far more than meets the eye. So is she about to carry over some of the passion and fury she showed as “A” on the ABC Family drama series to “Hawaii Five-0”? It’s tough to say whether or not we are looking at a character here who is anywhere near as evil, but there’s no questioning that Parrish is definitely playing someone who has a serious chip on her shoulder.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress’ character is a chemistry student who has a long career path in medicine worked out for herself, but then gets very angry when things do not entirely work out the way in which she planned. This is the perfect set-up for her to be the murderer at the end of the episode, but it would seem a little obvious for producers to give away so much about who this person is before the episode even airs.
This is a welcome role for Parrish, who is not only stepping outside of cable television for a role with a much larger audience here, but also is a homecoming in that she originally hails from Hawaii, where of course the series is set. “Hawaii Five-0” season 2 has been down thanks in part to “Revolution” in the key adults 18-49 demographic, and it is castings like Parrish and Kendall Jenner that may be signs that producers are looking to go a little bit younger with some of their guest stars in hopes of getting a new audience.
What do you think about Parrish’s casting?
