New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2012: Taylor Swift first confirmed performer
Hasn’t 2012 blown by? It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we were talking about Lady Gaga performing at “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” last year in Times Square, and now we are inching closer to the grand celebration on ABC being back for more.
Now, we also know that the first musical guest for the big show is going to be none other than “Mine” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer Taylor Swift. The country-pop star was confirmed to be performing in a new post on Twitter by show host Ryan Seacrest, which may be one of the most hilarious way in which a musical guest has ever been announced:
“Confirmed @TaylorSwift13 will perform on New Years Rockin’ Eve! Unconfirmed: Who she’ll kiss at midnight.”
Swift has long been known not only for having a complicated romantic life, but for being so open about some of her past relationships that she chooses to talk about them in song. While she never reveals her muses, Joe Jonas, John Mayer, and most recently Jake Gyllenhaal are some of the men supposed discussed in some of her lyrics. We know that Connor Kennedy will no longer be our New Year’s Eve kiss, as the two parties broke up last month as she was in the middle of her “Red” promotional tour.
This is going to perhaps be a more emotional year for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” than usual, as it marks the first show without longtime host and Seacrest’s former mentor in Dick Clark, who died earlier this year.
Stay tuned, as there will surely be more announcements about the big show and some of the upcoming guests in the near future.
