NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Did De’borah, Trevin Hunte join the top 12?

The Voice CoachesIf you look in between the performances of Jermaine Paul and Maroon 5 Thursday night’s “The Voice” (and some absolutely horrible product placement for Sprint), there were some actual results in here. Sadly, there were no save-me songs this time, and really what this entire episode amounted to was listening to people scream and hearing Jermaine veering way off-course from where we thought his music career would go.

In addition to some of the results that we are sharing below for the individual teams, we are also going to be sharing a little bit of analysis about whether or not these acts were worthy of advancing.

Team Adam Levine

After Amanda Brown and Bryan Keith were predictably saved by the voting public, Adam had a really difficult decision to make. We don’t really think that Melanie Martinez, Joselyn Rivera, or Loren Allred could actually win the show. However, Adam made probably a smart decision here in keeping the person who is the most memorable in Melanie … even if most of her performances all sound the same.

Team Blake Shelton

Cassadee Pope may be a little bit of a surprising pick from the voting public, simply because we know that not everyone tends to love what she brings to the show. Ironically, she and Terry McDermott did not give our favorite performances … that honor went instead to Michaela Paige. Luckily, Blake did choose her, and it was a bit of a surprise given that that Liz Davis is a country artist.

Team Christina Aguilera

Wow. We just saw what was quite possibly the worst decision ever on this show. How could Christina save Adriana Louise over De’borah? It’s not that Adriana was bad (she’s really rather great), but De’borah was someone who we had pegged as a potential winner. The competition just got a little less joyous, as Adriana joins Sylvia Yacoub and Dez Duron in the top 12.

Team Cee Lo Green

Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David were the two obvious choices here, and then the final one really was obvious: Cody Belew. This is a formidable top 3, and any of these guys could be a serious contender.

Do you think the coaches made the right choices? If you want to check out some of the performance highlights from the show this week, be sure to head on over to the link here.
