Last Man Standing season 8 premiere spoilers: Kaitlyn Dever returns!

Last Man Standing

The Last Man Standing season 8 premiere is coming onto Fox on Thursday, January 2, and it’s going to kick off a season of change. After all, Kristin is pregnant, Mike and Vanessa are dealing with an empty nest, and you’re going to see some notable guest stars throughout. Terry Bradshaw (who has been hyped up in various promos) will be appearing in an actual episode. Meanwhile, you’re also going to see Jay Leno back within the first hour and Kaitlyn Dever is also going to bring back Eve!

It’s the appearance of Eve that, in a lot of ways, is the most notable news. Given how much acclaim Dever is getting for her other roles this year (she’s a recent Golden Globe nominee), it’s rather remarkable of her to come back. That still seems to be something she’s interested in doing, at least for the time being. That is so important for Last Man Standing given that the family is the core of the show. Without that family together, a little something is lost and the writers would have to come up with constant explanations for her absence. (Her being away at military training works, but will it work always?)

For a few more specifics on the first two episodes, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

Mike helps Vanessa deal with empty nest syndrome. Meanwhile, Kristin announces her pregnancy to the family and unknowingly upsets Mandy in the process. Then Mike and Chuck’s plans to open a classic car renovation service crash when Joe (guest star Jay Leno) is invited to join in. Also, Vanessa realizes that Mandy is tricking Kyle into doing all their married chores in the all-new one-hour “No Parental Guidance/Wrench In The Works” season premiere episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Thursday, Jan. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-801/802) (TV-14 D, L)

While a current of change will work its way throughout the episode, remember this: Comedy will still be at the forefront. We feel like the premiere will be a natural evolution of the story to come, and also make up for some lost time. Remember, the show hasn’t been on since May!
