What could the South Park season 24 premiere date be on Comedy Central? Within this article, we come bearing more news on that subject!
Let’s start with this news, if you haven’t heard it already — there is going to be a season 24 of the long-running animated comedy coming! Not only that, but there is going to be a season 25 and 26 after the fact. This and The Daily Show are probably the two most iconic series in the history of the network, and we don’t see all that much of an interest in either one of them shutting down anytime soon.
In a statement announcing the renewal (and referencing a past marketing joke-push for the show to be canceled), here is what creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had to say:
“Apparently, our efforts to get our own show cancelled have fallen short … Luckily, we love Comedy Central and [president] Kent [Alterman] and our staff, so we are looking forward to new cancellation opportunities in the next few years.”
Meanwhile, here is some of what Alterman also had to say on the subject:
“South Park is the greatest comedy in the history of television, unmatched in its satirical strength and cultural relevancy and it shows no signs of slowing down… If humanity is still intact in 1000 years, historians will see the most transcendent artists of our era as The Beatles, Muhammed Ali and Matt and Trey. We’ll do as many seasons as they would like.”
So basically, the network is giving Trey and Matt the car keys and they can do with them whatever they choose. That’s an exciting opportunity for them, and it’s also one that we hope that they embrace to the fullest.
As for when season 24 will premiere, odds are it won’t be any earlier than the fall of 2020. The last seven seasons have all premiered in September, so that’s a pretty good candidate for when this one will also start. (There was a time in which the show moved from airing in the spring to the fall, so it is theoretically possible that a longer hiatus could, in fact, be in the works.)
