Outlander season 5 poster teases hints at The Fiery Cross

Outlander season 4

Today, Outlander season 5 gave us a small tease of what their promotional art could be for the upcoming season, and we’re starting to get a sense of what matters to them. They’re making sure to put the fiery cross front and center!

If you look HERE, you can get a good sense of how Starz is viewing the title object from the Diana Gabaldon book The Fiery Cross, premiering on Sunday, February 16. The slogan here in “Make An Oath” is a powerful one, given the themes of duty and responsibility that are at the forefront of the show. At the moment, Jamie Fraser is faced with a nearly-impossible decision — he has to determine if there is going to be a way to side with the Regulators without getting himself immediately targeted by Governor Tryon and the British. We know that he’s not going to abandon Murtagh — that much is clear.

In many ways, the cross is representative of a call to arms, a sign that eventually, we’re going to see it set ablaze as a symbol that war is inevitable. We’re leading up to the Revolutionary War on this show, but pending some dramatic changes, we don’t think we’re going to be seeing all that much of that on this particular season.

Is this the full poster for the show? We have a hard time imagining that it is. Why? We just imagine that there are going to be visuals of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe in whatever official art Outlander puts out there. Given that they are such big stars and faces of the franchise, Starz should want them front and center.

Let’s hope for a season stuffed full of adventure, but also romance, heart, and everything in between. These are the things that make Outlander the show that it is, and one that we’ll continue to watch time and time again.

What do you think about this new Outlander season 5 poster?
