Miss Universe 2019: Zozibini Tunzi (South Africa) is the winner!

Miss Universe

Tonight, the Miss Universe 2019 Pageant aired on Fox, and delivered with that a number of big surprises. Take, for example, the Philippines not making it super-close to the very end. Meanwhile, the United States also found itself out of the top five, despite the pageant being held in Atlanta.

So who ended up being the top three when the dust settles? Think in terms of Sofía Aragón (Mexico), Madison Anderson (Puerto Rico), and then finally Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa. Three different contestants who brought a lot to the pageant, but in the end, just one of them could end up getting the title. The night full of surprises had to find a way to do it one more time!

South Africa ended up being declared the champion, whereas Puerto Rico was the first runner-up and then Mexico the second. There was a pretty heated competition throughout the night, but this is a great victory for South Africa. It’s a country with such a diverse history and bringing the title to Africa will allow the continent to get more attention. Not only that, but this will lead to some more charity work being done in various countries, helping so many people in need.

While there are a lot of different people out there who check out Miss Universe for the glamour, the pageant at its best is when it can a beacon to the rest of the world. This is an opportunity for that to happen, and we can only hope that there are ways Tunzi can pay this victory forward and shine on the big stage, offering inspiration for so many more.
