The good news just keeps coming in regards to Doctor Who season 12 and today, it’s here in the form of a premiere date!

Today, BBC America announced that the new season starring Jodie Whittaker will officially kick off on New Year’s Day — making this the second year in a row in which there is a new installment of the series arriving at that point. Following this, the show will revert over to Sundays, where it will air starting on January 5. Note the official Doctor Who timeslot of 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, at least in America.

The new season will feature Whittaker alongside Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill as they do everything within their power to take on new challenges across time and space — and villains old and new. You can see some in the trailer below; there’s already been talk about the Judoon and Cybermen showing up in the new season, and that is without even bringing up the possibility of getting to see more of the Daleks. They made their first appearance of the Whittaker era within the New Year’s Special last year, albeit in a somewhat-different form at first.

For more discussion of the new season, here is what BBC America Executive Director Courtney Thomasma had to say:

What better way to ring in a new decade than with our favorite Time Lord? BBC AMERICA is excited to kick off the New Year with New Who, including a thrilling New Year’s Day premiere followed by new episodes every Sunday this winter. Last year, thousands of Whovians packed Madison Square Garden to celebrate Jodie Whittaker’s landmark debut as the first female Doctor. This year, we’re thrilled to partner with Fathom Events to bring that unique experience to fans all across the country, as Doctor Who embodies the idea of space for all. Let the New Year’s countdown begin!
