Is Chicago Fire new tonight on NBC? Where we’re going next
We don’t want to offer up any false hope here, so let’s go ahead and get the bad news out of the way: There is no Chicago Fire airing on the network tonight. What’s the reason for that? It’s so simple as that the Taylor Kinney – Jesse Spencer series officially entered hiatus one week ago. They are going to make you wait a little while longer for what lies ahead, even if waiting is not something that we’re necessarily eager to do.

As for what will be coming up, everything begins with the big Kelly Severide cliffhanger. As Derek Haas told CarterMatt last week, the winter premiere will begin mere seconds after Severide caught the contract arsonist in the basement. This is not someone who is going to give up easily — they’re going to show some metaphorical teeth and put Taylor Kinney’s character in a very tight spot. Go ahead and prepare for some fireworks as we wait to see whether or not he makes it through this.
Beyond this, there are of course questions about what’s happening in the romantic life with one Matthew Casey. Following Dawson’s arrival, it’s clear that the two definitely have feelings for each other still — these things don’t go away overnight, or really at any point in the relatively-near future. Of course with that, though, the question then becomes how Casey moves forward. It doesn’t seem as though Dawson is going to be planting roots back in Chicago anytime soon so Casey needs to find a way to move forward with his life, however difficult it may be. This is especially the case if he wants to be with someone else, given that this someone could have some inevitable concerns about what will happen if Gabby comes back into town.
