His Dark Materials episode 5 spoilers: The search in ‘The Lost Boy’

His Dark MaterialsNext week on His Dark Materials episode 5, the search for Lyra is going to intensify. She’s already traveled in hopes of finding Roger and the missing kids, and she is also about to navigate in some other interesting directions. She may find some important clues over the next hour or so, but also some that are rather unsettling.

The truth here is that His Dark Materials could really be described as one unsettling reveal after the next. We’re hopeful for Lyra to find some of what she wants, but also aware that it won’t come easy. Very little within this world ultimately is. She’s already dealt with betrayals and abandonment. These really are the sort of things that do define a lot of who she is as a character, and now that we’re at the halfway point, we feel like the narrative is only going to heat up.

One of the things that we can say for certain about episode 5 is this — based on the promo alone, this is easily going to be one of the more frigid episodes of the entire series. Be prepared for an installment where Lyra must master her fears, rely on some new friends, and also venture into some very-much-uncharted territory.
