Is Michonne leaving The Walking Dead for good after the midseason finale on Sunday night? There’s a reason to believe so. Yet, at the same time we don’t think that the exit is anywhere near so simple.
Tonight, Michonne chose to take off with Virgil as he seeks some of what he’s looking for at the base, with his family being one of his ultimate end goals. We’re excited to see what sort of mystery that is set up here, though it’s also kind of easy to question Michonne’s thinking on all of this given the sole fact that she’s going off with a relative stranger after just finding out about Dante — especially given that she has someone in Judith that she’s doing her part in order to look after.
Yet, we know that The Walking Dead needs to make some big changes when it comes to Michonne’s story, given that Danai Gurira is poised to leave at some point this season. We just have a hard time thinking, at least at the moment, that this is going to be it. There are probably a few more twists and turns coming, but there’s some time to play a lot of that out. We could see Michonne maybe getting some clues about Rick Grimes’ whereabouts on her trip with Virgin, but we’ll probably see some of this take shape.
The most important thing to note, at least at the moment, is this: We have a really hard time believing that Michonne’s exit is just because she wants to go off and spend some time with a stranger on a journey like this. There are likely some other twists and turns that are coming and worth looking forward to seeing.
As for most everyone else at the moment, we feel like a lot of the communities will be forced to deal with the enormous discovery of Alpha’s zombie horde. Did Gamma lie along the way, or was this some sort of tease so that they could be found? We have some many questions at the moment related to that.
What did you think about tonight’s The Walking Dead midseason finale?
