After Outlander season 5 filming, what lies ahead?

Outlander season 4

Just in case you missed the oh-so-glorious news from earlier this week, here it is — Outlander season 5 is officially done production! Filming wrapped in Scotland, and that means for the cast, there is at least a little bit of a break. Sure there are a few things they may need to do every now and then from now until the premiere, but in general, they can pursue other projects here and there.

So what is left for the crew? Well, for some of the folks working on the set itself, they may have a little bit of a break coming up … but there are other departments who still have a lot of work to do. In a new post on Twitter this week, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts made it clear that he and the other writers are still working on season 6. All the while, he’s also doing post-production for season 5, which includes such things as editing, getting the music together, and also adding special effects to the mix. There is a lot of work still to be done to make these episodes perfeect, and that will carry over into the new year. The post-production department and the writers’ room should prove busy for another few months.

What we’re getting at here in general is this — Outlander is a year-round show even if the cast isn’t at work. It’s hard to find a time during the year where there are no episodes airing and there also isn’t anyone working on them behind the scenes. Maybe Christmas through New Year’s Day is one of the few times that we can think of at the moment, but such can be true for many jobs. It takes more than just a village to bring Fraser’s Ridge to life!

What do you want to see the most on Outlander season 5?
