We’ve been teasing it for days and now, it’s finally official — it is a wrap for Outlander season 5 on Starz.
This afternoon (or, this evening in Scotland), Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and others were able to put a final bow on this batch of episodes. You can see messages at the bottom of this article from both leads/producers alongside Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin — who both did social-media Q&A sessions today. (We’ll be back to discuss those a little later this week.)

So what comes next for Outlander as a series? Behind the scenes, the reigns are handed over to the post-production crew — this is when they go through and edit the footage together, score it, and make sure that it is perfect to air on Starz. Sometimes, the cast does have additional work to do via ADR (where they go in and record/re-record dialogue), but that varies depending on the production.
With Outlander season 5 premiering in February, we think that the promotional push will get going early on in 2020. There could be a trailer or some other goodies beforehand, but we think that Starz probably doesn’t want a lot of their material to get lost amidst the hustle of the holiday season. We know that this is an exciting season ahead — after all, there will be a wedding plus also difficult politics, a new estate at Fraser’s Ridge, and a whole lost of new arrivals. Everything in the end will be set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War … or at least the buildup to it taking place.
