If you did not hear the news earlier today, the Viola Davis drama is going to be embarking on its longest hiatus to date. If you think back, then you will be familiar with the fact that past episodes have aired in late January/February. Unfortunately, that is not something that is happening here. You’re going to be seeing the show back instead on Thursday, April 2, where it is where it will air for the remainder of the season.
So why the long wait? We think it has to do with a number of different things. Take, for starters, allowing other shows more continuity. Clearly, ABC wants to ensure that Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy have a chance to air one right after the next. However, in the process of doing this, they also don’t want to remove A Million Little Things from the schedule. The reality of this situation at the moment for ABC is that they don’t have to spend a whole lot of time stressing over what’s going on with How to Get Away with Murder. It’s a series in its final season and with that in mind, there’s no real pressure on its ratings. They don’t have to worry at the moment about whether or not the series is going to succeed.
Of course, we want answers through the final episodes of How to Get Away with Murder … but then also beyond that happiness. Maybe not every character within this series is destined to get to a much-brighter future, but we certainly hope that some are going to be capable of it.
