Better Call Saul season 5 premiere date, teaser revealed at AMC

Better Call Saul season 5

We knew that Better Call Saul season 5 was going to be coming early on in the new year, but the premiere date is admittedly still later than expected.

Today, AMC confirmed that the Bob Odenkirk series will be coming back on Sunday, February 23 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, where it will be following a new episode of The Walking Dead. This is a premiere date clearly designed to take advantage of a primo lead-in and also get the show a lot of buzz. We were hoping for a premiere date in January, but it is what it is. (After this premiere, the show will air again on Monday, February 24 at 9:00 — its regular timeslot for the rest of the season.)

The new teaser promo below doesn’t exactly give anything away when it comes to the story ahead, but it is a reminder that Better Call Saul isa ctually set now to tell the Saul Goodman story more than it ever was through its first four seasons. After getting his job back, Jimmy has determined that he no longer wants to be the same attorney he once was. This is a chance for him to mix things up, get a little fast and loose with the rules, and do whatever he can to make money. In doing that, there could be a tremendous cost. His relationship with Kim Wexler, for starters, could end up in tatters. That’s a consequence of who Jimmy wants to be now, as we already know that she is not around at all when you get to the story of Breaking Bad.

We’re also hoping that season 5 will give us at least a little more insight into the life of Gene, Jimmy’s future alter-ego and Cinnabon employee. We still want to believe, for better or for worse, than Jimmy can find a little bit of happiness at the end of everything that he’s gone through. He’s far from perfect, but it’d be a nice contrast to Breaking Bad itself.
