Is Avi Nash leaving The Walking Dead, and is Siddiq dead?

Siddiq

Is Avi Nash leaving The Walking Dead following Sunday night’s new episode, and is the character of Siddiq dead? Within this article, we come bearing more discussion on that very subject.

Let’s go ahead and get some of the bad news out of the way: It doesn’t look great for Siddiq. As a matter of fact, we’d say that it seems over. The entire episode, entitled “Open Your Eyes,” was meant to set up the jaw-dropping moment at the end of the episode where we saw Dante effectively choke him out. It wasn’t something that we were prepared for, but it’s definitely something that is sad. Siddiq is a character who others wanted to see the good in. Think in terms of what happened with Carl Grimes so many years ago — there’s a reason why Chandler Riggs is appearing on Talking Dead tonight. That helps to bring the character and his story full-circle.

What is somewhat interesting, though, in posing this question about Nash’s future is that the actor was credited on IMDb through the end of this season … though this may have just been a clever way in order to mask what truly happened. If there is a little bit of hope for Siddiq at the moment, it’s probably just this: That there is a way that he is just conscious and that Dante didn’t fully kill him. Maybe he’s just knocked out somewhere and he can be saved? Sure, this is wishful thinking, but Siddiq surviving under these circumstances could turn him into a rather different character.

We tuned into Talking Dead tonight in hopes to get some more answers as to whether or not Siddiq was alive … and based on some of what Nash said, it does appear (alas) as though he is gone. He spoke as though he’s reached the end of the story.
