Hawaii Five-0 season 10, Magnum PI season 2 crossover confirmed

Hawaii Five-0

For everyone out there eager to see Hawaii Five-0 season 10 and Magnum PI cross over, we come bearing some news! Today, it was confirmed via TVLine that there will be some sort of sprawling, epic event featuring the two shows come up in the near future.

Not only that, but you’re going to be able to see this event air sooner rather than later. The crossover is currently set to air in January, and based on what executive producer Peter Lenkov told the aforementioned site, it’s going to feel like a movie. It begins with the Five-0 team doing what they can to track down a person of interest at a hotel, and it just so happens that this is the same location that Magnum and Higgins are already monitoring for a case of their own. As Lenkov puts it, “in a way, Higgins and Magnum become witnesses that Five-0 needs to help them … And our two worlds collide!”

A number of the big Magnum PI characters are going to appear in the first half of the crossover, including Magnum, Higgins, TC, and Rick — meanwhile, Junior, Tani, and Quinn will all be a part of the second Magnum PI hour.

We definitely recognize the challenges that go into making an event like this happen. While both shows do benefit in a way from filming in close proximity to one another, at the same time schedules for both of the shows are very intense. Add to this the fact that Hawaii Five-0 often does anywhere from 24-25 episodes a season, more than just about any other scripted show on television.

In the end, we’re glad that Peter found a way to make this work — he told us at the start of season 10 that it was something that he was working on, and now, we get a chance to see it in action. (For those wondering, we’re not so optimistic about a crossover with these shows and MacGyver — the logistics of it, especially with the latter show filming in Atlanta, make it almost impossible … even though MacGyver did visit Hawaii in the first season.)
