Arrow season 8: Stephen Amell wraps series finale filming

Arrow

While the Arrow series finale is not going to be airing until 2020, there is some big news worth reporting right now. From a production vantage point, filming is officially done for the show’s leading man.

In a new post on Twitter, Stephen Amell confirmed the news with an emotional message, calling working on the show the “best 8 years” of his entire life. This is a show that completely altered who he was and what he was known for — before Arrow, one of his most well-known gigs was a recurring stint on The Vampire Diaries. Now, he is the person responsible for really kicking off the entire Arrowverse. It’s been a part about his performance, but at the same time also about his presence.

Think about it this way — there are legendary stories of Stephen staying late at conventions for fans, or spending his off time in his trailer talking with fans via Facebook. He’s been a wonderful ambassador for this show, and even though Arrow is over, that doesn’t mean that he will be done playing Oliver Queen. The show will go on for The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman. Because of that, we have a feeling that there could be a role for him again in the future.

For now, the waiting begins. There are a few more episodes of Arrow to get through, plus also the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, before we get to the series finale. At the moment, we want to be optimistic that there is a happy ending of some sort for Oliver Queen at the end of everything. After all, we at least know that he’s still out there judging from the way last season concluded. We at least want to believe that The Monitor didn’t come to Felicity Smoak in the future only to then lead her to a place where Oliver was dead. That’s a little too depressing for us.

We’re going to miss Arrow — and, to go along with that, we’ll miss Stephen Amell talking all about Arrow.
