Chicago PD season 7 episode 8: Is Burgess pregnant? Her decision
After all, tonight’s new episode allowed Marina Squerciati’s character to make an important decision on her future — and if having a baby was a part of it. After learning the news, she recognized that she did have a huge decision to make. It was also a complicated one. She and Ruzek weren’t in a committed relationship when they were together, she works a dangerous job, and that’s without even getting into what she wants as herself over the next few years of her life. Yet, by the end of the hours, she came to the decision that she wanted to have the baby.
What went into her decision tonight? Largely, it had a few different things to do with her recognizing that she didn’t want to make a decision that she’d regret later. She didn’t know what her relationship future held and while taking on a baby could be daunting, it was a challenge she was prepared for.
As you would imagine, this is probably one of the biggest game-changing twists when it comes to Burgess since Chicago PD first began. It does seem as though Ruzek is ready to be there as a father figure, but there is no guarantee that we’re going to be seeing the two of them back together fully. We don’t think that this is something that should be ruled out, but there’s a lot of work to be done there. We don’t think that one thing necessarily dictates the other.
Yet, moving forward this season we’re interested to see how Kim’s pregnancy changes her job. Is she going to view it in the way in which she once did? That’s definitely one of the different things we’re going to explore as we dive especially into the next part of the season in 2020. It may be a story that is explored somewhat in the winter finale, but there are a lot of other matters that need attending to there.
