Last Man Standing season 8 promo highlights more comedy
In the video below (first posted via TVLine), you can Tim Allen’s character alongside some reminders that Mike Baxter is still a guy’s guy going somewhat against the grain. He’s also not able to apparently remember the ages of his kids and he has a tendency to trip on some of his words to Vanessa. It’s a brand of comedy that is somewhat lost in time on other shows, but it’s one that can still totally deliver some laughs. Also, Allen’s a king of it after having done both this and Home Improvement over the years.

Last Man Standing season 8 is going to be premiering on Thursday, January 2 with a pair of episodes, and given that there are 22 coming for the season as a whole, you better be prepared for more double-episode blocks in the weeks that follow. It’s going to be a quick burst of the Baxters this winter, with very few breaks and a lot of constant comedy. There will be some changes for the family once again this season, but it’s also going to be less of a transition than what we saw going into season 7.
Despite the later premiere, we wouldn’t view this in the slightest as a sign that Fox is looking to do away with Last Man Standing. As a matter of fact, we remain hopeful that there will be a season 9. We won’t know for sure until early ratings come in, but with a new timeslot, this has a chance to become one of the biggest comedies on all TV. We’ll see and learn more in the months to come.
