Outlander season 5 filming: Who is wrapped up for the year?

Outlander season 4

While Outlander season 5 may not be done with its production as of yet, it is clear that we’re moving more and more to that place. After all, Cesar Domboy has finished up his own responsibilities as Fergus!

In a new post on Twitter, Caitriona Balfe confirmed that Domboy wrapped up his work today on season 5 — and posted a humorous image to go along with it. We’re in the final block of episodes, and we’re sure because of this that there will be some other actors polishing off work before too long.

So how long will the filming hiatus be? It’s going to last for at least the remainder of the year, and there is no specific start date in 2020 just yet. From the vantage point of Starz, we’re sure that they would love to bring Outlander season 6 to TV at around the same time of the year as season 5 — with that, a filming start time in spring 2020 makes some sense. There are another twelve episodes there, but we’re going to have plenty of opportunities to discuss that in due time.

As for what’s going to be coming up on the fifth season of the show for Fergus, we foresee there are some exciting new adventures coming. He’ll have a chance to further deepen his relationship with Marsali, while also being close to the Frasers at (fittingly) Fraser’s Ridge. We also imagine that he will have at least a role or a voice in one of the story’s key decisions — whether or not Jamie is going to side with the British or with Murtagh. we already feel we know which way he’s going to go, but there could be something fascinating that comes with watching him make that very choice. Fergus is one of his most loyal confidantes, and someone who will be unafraid to speak his mind around Sam Heughan’s character.
