One Day at a Time season 4 premiere date: What month will it air?
While we do not know the full One Day at a Time season 4 premiere date just yet, we do have some other news worth celebrating: A good sense of around when it will be.
Today, it was announced while at the Vulture Festival (via TVLine) that you are going to see the formally-canceled comedy premiering at some point in March on its new home — Pop TV. That’s tremendous news, no?
To us, this is also a much earlier season 4 premiere date than we even expected when you consider some of the circumstances around it. One Day at a Time was canceled for a good time before Pop TV picked it back up, and it wasn’t that long ago when the series’ writers officially got back to work.
Yet, we think the premiere date is a function of a couple of different things:
Relatively Quick Production Time – It doesn’t take as long to turn around a sitcom than it would some sort of high-concept network drama. There isn’t a need to throw a lot of special effects or post production against the way. The writers are also going to turn over scripts to production in a pretty efficient manner.
A Desire to Keep a Similar Schedule – We think that Pop TV probably wanted to ensure that there wasn’t some sort of extremely long hiatus from the end of one season to the start of the next one. This is a way in order to ensure that the ratings stay fairly solid.
The Airing Schedule – Remember that on Netflix, all episodes of One Day at a Time were delivered at the same time. On Pop, however, they can roll them out weekly. Because of this, there can be a little more time behind the scenes to get episodes together. They don’t have to all be set to air right away.
No matter when One Day at a Time premieres, one thing feels clear — we’re going to be in for a funny, meaningful season stuffed full of great stuff from top to bottom. Let’s hope for some more details coming up soon.
