‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Ed Speleers on Jimmy situation

There are a number of interesting storylines coming up leading up to the season 3 finale of “Downton Abbey” on Sunday, but there may not be one that is as gripping as seeing the situation that is about to unfold with Ed Speleers’ character of Jimmy. He is a man who was have gotten to know somewhat over the past few weeks, but his secret rendezvous with Thomas clearly suggests that he is someone with a major secret to hide. Unlike our longstanding footman, however, he does not seem to be nearly as interested in actually talking about his orientation, or having anyone know about it, for that matter.

In the preview video for the finale, we see Jimmy claim that he is thinking about phoning the police over being the “victim” in the Thomas incident, and he recently sat down with TV & Satellite Week Magazine to explain just what is going through the man’s head at this very moment:

“I think Jimmy is torn about what to do because he is worldly and probably liberal, but there are outside influences in the form of Miss O’Brien, who tells him that this is not going to reflect well on him. It unravels into quite a heated debate in the finale where everyone in the house is trying to get their 10 pence in. I think there will be empathy for Thomas, but I hope that there isn’t hatred for Jimmy.”

Will Thomas ultimately be removed from service over this indiscretion? We have a feeling that much of this will be to Jimmy himself, though we are hoping that he somehow finds a way to stay put. Where would we be without one of our favorite schemers?

What do you want to see unfold with the Jimmy / Thomas storyline this year?
