Let’s go ahead now and get some of the bad news out of the way — following last week’s new installment hosted by Kristen Stewart, you’re going to see the late-night sketch show take a little bit of a break. There is no new episode on the air tonight; instead, you’ll be waiting until you get around to November 16 to see the big episode featuring Harry Styles as both a host and also musical guest.
What are we the most excited to check out in that episode? Mostly, seeing just how versatile a performer Harry can be. We know already that he can act — his performance in Dunkirk was proof of that — and he obviously has a fantastic music career both within One Direction and then also as a solo artist. Our big hope entering this episode is that he can deliver some more material that shows off a goofy, lighthearted side — one that is very much willing to take risks and be fearless in doing so. The more of that we get to see from Harry, arguably the better the show will be. Some will depend on the material, but the writers are going to have an extra week in order to come up with some perfect stuff. We like to think that they will make the most of their extra time to the best of their ability.
Following Styles’ show, we know that there are some other episodes coming up later this year … but you have to wait for some of them. The big headline is that Eddie Murphy is coming back to host the final show before Christmas. This should prove to be a treat to longtime SNL fans, given his status as one of the most-notable people ever to be a cast member. We just hope that it lives up to the hype.
