Wheel of Fortune: Vanna White to host due to Pat Sajak surgery

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune has been on the air for generations and, because of that, we’ve long grown accustomed to the routine.

Yet, that routine is about to be shaken up … even if it is for just a brief period of time. In a new post on Twitter, the game show confirmed that host Pat Sajak has undergone emergency surgery over a blocked intestine. While he recovers, Vanna White is going to step in as host! There’s something kinda fun about this idea, just like it’s kinda fun to think that she could swap roles with him when he comes back. (Yet, that’s probably not going to happen.)

As for when these shows hosted by Vanna will air, that remains to be determined — yet, it probably won’t be for a little while. We have a feeling that this is going to get a lot of attention when it happens just because it’s so jarring — like we said, Wheel of Fortune is about the puzzles, the contestants, and the routine. The moment one of those changes, it feels almost like the world falls off of its axis.

Of course, we wish Sajak the best — he has hosted the show for more than 35 years, making him one of the longest-tenured game-show host ever. He’s signed on board  Wheel of Fortune until 2022, which means clearly that his reign as host of the series s going to stick around for a little while longer. We don’t necessarily think that Wheel of Fortune would be ending in 2022, either. This is one of those shows that will go on however long those involved want it to. It has that sort of timeless quality, one where it will always find some ways to stick around so long as there is an audience out there for it.

Of course, we welcome all of your thoughts on this subject below. (Photo: Wheel of Fortune.)
