When Nick Torres mentioned a new girlfriend on last night’s NCIS season 17 episode, it was a moment that gave us pause. Why? Well, for starters, this was the first that we’d heard of a girlfriend coming into the world of the series. It was also a surprise that Bishop would be hearing about it for the first time given how close the two supposedly are.
As a matter of fact, we went so far as to say that maybe the girlfriend Torres had was actually his code for getting a dog, mostly because he’d talked about how much he’d loved them earlier in the episode.

As it turns out, though, Torres does actually seem to be dating someone, or at least the photo above — plus the following — suggests! According to a new report from TVLine, Lisa LoCicero of General Hospital fame will be appearing next week as Elena Devol, a woman who seems to be rather chummy with Wilmer Valderrama’s character. Is everything quite as it seems, though? This is where we imagine some of the doubts are going to come into play. It’s possible that this is an undercover mission of sorts, or that there is something else going on that Torres is actually up to and just doesn’t want anyone to know. We know that he does try to mask certain things that he’s doing for a wide array of reasons, whether it be insecurity or to create more of a surprise later on.
Or, maybe it’s possible that she’s just his girlfriend. Not everything needs to be built up into the most surprising and/or dramatic twist ever. Maybe this is as simple as Torres wanting to get out into the dating pool — it feels like he’s interested in Bishop, but maybe he’s a little bit too nervous to make that jump in the end.
