Just as we promised, we now have the first video for the “Downton Abbey” finale airing on Sunday night; and while the quality here is not the best, it’s still rather easy to see just what is going on here when it comes to the story.
Finally, the Dowager Countess is going to have a story for herself thanks to the arrival of someone close to her in Rose, but there will almost immediately be a debate as to where she will stay. In addition to that, there will also be a rather substantial story framed around what Violet has to tell Edith about some of her own plans, which including a threat to run away from the estate. Is this coming as a result of the backlash over her new career? While this is not clear, we have a feeling that some of the implications may be dire in the event that Edith does get out on her own. (We do, after all, see her turning in some sort of resignation.)
As for some other storylines, be prepared to see some major events unfold courtesy of a cricket match and some sort of dance party, and the aftermath of the incident regarding Jimmy and Thomas will amplify to a whole new level. Jimmy claims that he is considering phoning the police over the ordeal, but it is not entirely clear if he is doing this as an act, or if he has some sort of real intention to actually do so.
The final story that we have here is something that just about everyone should expect: continued tension between Matthew and Robert over how to run the Abbey. Will these two ever figure it out? We can only hope so.
