Hawaii Five-0, Magnum PI, The Blacklist ratings rise vs. World Series

For the third time this past week, we are here to report on what is both a bizarre and interesting phenomenon — the ratings for a number of different shows all showing some improvement opposite the World Series. You would think that this would be the sort of event that would suck all of these numbers away like some sort of television vacuum and yet, The Blacklist, Hawaii Five-0, and Magnum PI all posted some improvements last night.

Not only that, but you can clearly see that Hawaii Five-0 posted some of its best numbers of the whole season with a 0.7 rating. We think that this being a Halloween special helped out the series to a certain degree, given that Halloween episodes for this show often do turn out to be ratings winners. We’ve seen that a few times over now, and getting former cast member Masi Oka back had to be an assist in its own right. The positive ratings momentum also carried over from Magnum PI, which recovered from a lower outing to finish with a 0.6. It’s clear that CBS is trying to create as much positive synergy as possible between the two shows and in all honesty, it’s hard to blame them when they are 1) both endlessly entertaining and 2) have great crossover potential.

The good ratings news doesn’t even stop over on CBS, given that last night, The Blacklist also found itself sliding up the ratings scale, ending up with a 0.5 in the 18-49 demographic overall. This is another solid total for the series that gives us a little bit of hope that it could come back for a season 8 in the future. Aren’t Fridays jammed with great programming in between this and the stuff over on CBS?

For those who were wondering, Charmed and Dynasty improved by a tiny margin in total viewers, but held firm in the demo with a 0.2 and 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, respectively. We’re hoping that
