Magnum PI season 2 has already featured a good bit of action — and moving forward, there’s also going to be a lot of music!

This week, CBS confirmed that on the upcoming November 15 episode entitled “He Came by Night,” you are going to have a chance to see a performance by Train alongside special guest Skylar Grey. The band’s been a part of the Magnum/Hawaii Five-0 world for a little while already, having performed at the annual Sunset on the Beach event a little bit earlier this year. This is a chance for them to show off some new music, while also giving us a chance to see a fun new story wrapped around it. As for how the music is tied into the story, we’ll have to wait and see on that.

For more on what that story is going to be, just check out the latest synopsis below:

“He Came by Night” – Magnum and Higgins’ new partnership is tested when they disagree about being hired by a woman who wants them to recover her $3 million in stolen drug money in order to save her husband’s life. Also, TC and Shammy must get to the bottom of a potential case of someone impersonating a decorated veteran, on MAGNUM P.I., Friday, Nov. 15 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Grammy Award-winning artist Train performs the world premiere of their new song “Mai Tai” with special guest Skylar Grey.

Given that this episode is airing right in the middle of November sweeps, you have to go ahead and assume that there is some exciting stuff coming throughout! Isn’t this when you have some of your best storytelling? Magnum PI is working to establish itself still in its new Friday-night timeslot, and bringing on big-name guests is a good way to generate buzz.

Magnum PI and Hawaii Five-0 are not even the only shows within the CBS world to revel in bringing forward musical guests — after all, this is also something that we’ve seen with NCIS: New Orleans over the years. It suits the culture of these shows, and also, wouldn’t characters want to enjoy a little bit of music after everything they’ve gone through saving lives?

What do you think about Train and Skylar Grey performing on Magnum PI season 2?
