NCIS season 17: What Wilmer Valderrama loves about Torres, Bishop

NCIS season 17, as so many of you know, is deep into airing its latest batch of episodes … even though we are going to have to wait almost two weeks to see what’s next. We’re five episodes into the new season (more than 20% of the way through!), but rest assured, there are a lot of fun things coming up down the road.

One of the fun things we are seeing now, though, is the continued evolution of Bishop and Torres and the relationship that the two of them share. This is a partnership that has long proved entertaining, and has also moved in the direction of being a possible romance for the characters. Last night, there were more possible hints dropped courtesy of Torres being under hypnosis, where he wrote Bishop a note (at least supposedly; we have some other theories) that could have some valuable information about how he feels about her.

In celebration of last night’s new episode, and the positive response to it online, Wilmer Valderrama hopped on his Instagram this afternoon and detailed what he loves about his character and the Bishop/Torres (a.k.a. Ellick) relationship. In his mind, he loves the opportunity to give viewers a reason to laugh and have some fun in the midst of what can be a pretty dark time in the world. He also has said in the past that he relishes the opportunity to play a hero on this show, and someone who can serve as a role model — while also having fun and eating protein bars along the way.

All in all, gratitude seems to be the word of the day from Wilmer, and it makes some sense considering his history as a performer. This is someone who, for much of his career, was known for one signature role on That 70’s Show. As Nick Torres, he’s had a great opportunity to reinvent himself as an action hero — while still having some of the same ability to make people laugh that he had as Fez so many years ago.

As for where Bishop and Torres go from here, the jury’s still out — we’re just optimistic that the fun and the lighthearted spirit will continue.
